It's Moving Day!

The voluntary relocation of the residents of GHA's Nine Oaks Community to "The Iris" at Park Point began  in February 2018.  Approximately 50 residents were successfully relocated by the "Furniture Taxi" in one week.


Ground Breaking for The Terrace!

The Iris ribbon cutting was followed by the ground breaking of GHA’s Phase III project …an additional 65-unit seniors mid-rise “The Terraces at the Park.”  Also designated for those age 62 and above, which is often the demographic most in need of assistance the Terraces has 58-one bedroom units  and  seven two bedrooms.

Due to the threat of inclement weather GHA Board of Commissions used keep-sake trowels to sift through soil from the “Terraces” site to symbolize the actual ground breaking. Completion of the project is expected to occur in November of 2018. 

Ribbon Cutting for The Iris!

With the ribbon cutting for The Iris at Park Pointe held March 9, 2018, the Griffin Housing Authority (GHA) completed Phase II of its multi-phase redevelopment of the Park District.

The project an 85 unit Senior mid-rise has 77 one bedrooms and eight two bedrooms. Construction which began in December 2016 was complete in December 2017 and has exceeded everyone’s expectations in quality and design. In addition to being the recipient of tax credits every year for three years, which uncommon in the state of Georgia. GHA also received three federal home loan bank awards in a row. 

The ribbon cutting event was attended by HUD dignitaries on the state and National level, members from the State House of representatives, the City of Griffin’s Mayor and other local elected officials. GHA Board of Commissions and staff were also in attendance to mark the historic occasion.
